Lord Sri Krishna replied, “Oh Yudhisthira, Oh king of kings, gladly I shall tell you about this great fast, known as VijayA EkAdasii. Whoever observes it certainly achieves success in this life and the next. All the sins of one who fasts on this EkAdasii and hears its sublime glories are eradicated.

Hanumanji always wanted to serve his Prabhu Lord Sri Rama. One day when Sita Matha was entering into Rama’s bedroom, Hanumanji also followed her. Then Lord Rama said that he cannot enter into the room. Hanumanji said that when Sita Matha can enter into the room, why can’t he enter the room. He is having such an innocent devotional service towards Lord Rama. Just to convince Hanumanji, Rama said that Sita is having a sindhur on her forehead, so she can enter the room. After hearing that, Hanumanji came out and thought for a while.

When Hanumanji was crossing over the ocean he had to go through three different obstacles. In our devotional life also we go through different obstacles in various forms. We have to know how to get rid of these obstacles and move towards our final destination which is the love of Supreme Personality of Godhead. That is why Maharaj says "steer clear". When we are driving in the traffic, two things we have to keep in our mind. We should be very alert and we should know the destination where we are supposed to go.

Recent Granthraj mail by HG Anuradha mataji regarding Vishram was very nice. We can also become relaxed if we add Ram in our life. Everybody knows the past times of Lord Rama; all monkeys together built a Ram setu over the sea and as they wrote Ram on the stones, the stones changed their nature and began floating on water. From this incident we have to take lesson that the monkeys understood the potency of Lord Rama’s name, but we being humans have failed in fact willingly we are not interested to add Ram in our life and change our nature. He is the Creator of the whole universe and he can easily cross the ocean without the need of any bridge! But Lord Rama gave us an opportunity to add Him in our life in the form of Hari Nam. We never tried to learn this lesson from His past time.

In our Rukmini sabha class in Abu Dhabi we have nicely begun the discussions about Hanumanji’s prayers of S.B.5.19. I shall try to transcribe what we have heard from H.G.Vaijayanthimala Devi Dasi Mathaji last week.

S.B.5.19 is titled “A description of the island of Jambudvipa”. It is the Kimpurusa-varsa where Hanumanji and Arstisena are worshiping Lord Rama.

The auspicious occasion of the Vyaasa Pooja of our beloved Spritual master H.H. Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj was observed in Abudhabi with intense prayers and remembrance of the intimate relationship shared by everyone with Maharaj. By the blessings of the Lord and our Guru Maharaj around 190 devotees participated in the program and all of them including small children nicely and enthusiastically chanted the Hare Krishna Maha mantra. In all a total of 5046 rounds (malas) of Hare Krishna Maha mantra was chanted on that day. All this chanting is offered at the lotus feet of our beloved spiritual master with feelings of love and humility. What can we insignificant souls offer to this Mahatma who is sacrificing everything for all our welfare and benefit?

Of course the great devotee Hanuman was sitting at the lotus feet of Lord Ramachandra and was chanting His Holy Names with his eyes closed. Lord Ramachandra asked Hanuman with a smile, “My dear Hanuman, I am here in front of you but instead of looking at me, you are chanting my name with closed eyes. Why is that?” Hanuman opened his eyes and replied “My Lord, by seeing You, many were liberated but many more were liberated just by chanting Your Holy Names”.

Twenty-six Second Avenue. Matchless Gifts. No doubt, to most New Yorkers, nothing more than the kind of squalid storefront someone might open a pawnshop in. What with traffic noise and our neighbors — Cosmos Parcels Express Corporation, Gonzalez Funeral Home, Weitzner Brothers Memorials, The Red Star Bar, and a Mobil gas station — no one would think it Vaikuntha. But for us, Matchless Gifts becomes a temple, a part of Vrindaban, because of Swamiji’s presence and the words spoken here.
