Generally people think that when we have to stay alone at home, we would be dull and morose and would surprisingly inquire how I am carrying on with my duties cheerfully without fear during such situations. The simple secret for this is Gurudev, his words and instructions. In the purport of Srimad Bhagavatam verse 3.21.31, Srila Prabhupada says – "To award fearlessness to the common man is the greatest act of charity. A sannyaasi, or one who is in the renounced order of life, should wander from door to door, from village to village, from town to town and from country to country, all over the world as far as he is able to travel, and enlighten the householders about Krishna consciousness."

It is a natural tendency of living entities to like happiness and dislike sufferings. Especially among human beings, since the tendency to lead a sophisticated life is more, we always try to counteract the sufferings by various means. In spite of all our attempts to counteract, the nature of this material world is duhkhaalayam ashaasvatam - full of miseries and temporary. Our attempts to counteract sufferings bring in more and more sufferings as Prahlad Maharaj says duhkhaushadham tad api duhkham atad dhiyaaham – the solution to the problems are more miserable than the actual problems. As a result, we feel defeated and frustrated as promptly diagnosed by King Rshabadev in SB 5.5.5:
paraabhavas taavad abodha-jaato
yaavan na jijnaasata aatma-tattvam
yaavat kriyaas taavad idam mano vai
karmaatmakam yena shareera-bandhah
"As long as one does not inquire about the spiritual values of life, one is defeated and subjected to miseries arising from ignorance. Be it sinful or pious, karma has its resultant actions. If a person is engaged in any kind of karma, his mind is called karmatmaka, colored with fruitive activity. As long as the mind is impure, consciousness is unclear, and as long as one is absorbed in fruitive activity, he has to accept a material body."

Personal Appreciation of Srila Prabhupada – Remembering Srila Prabhupada
Author: Saravana Kumar PaulrajJul 21
By the end of 1972, I had spent about two weeks in the Melbourne ISKCON centre. Except for the basic tenets of karma and vegetarianism, I understood little of the philosophy of Krsna consciousness.
One person that I heard the devotees always discussing was Srila Prabhupada. The title "Srila Prabhupada" reverberated in my ears hundreds of times a day. I became fascinated by the unflinching attachment devotees had for the person with this sobriquet "Srila Prabhupada". As the days sped by in an almost unrelenting cycle of harinama, prasadam, and, at the time, unfathomable rituals, my enchantment became contaminated with doubt.

"Do not put faith in this temporary material body, because Yamaraja, the lord of death, is waiting next to you. The flow of karma is just like the ocean of sorrow. Consider this properly and worship the lotus feet of Radha and Krsna with attachment under the guidance of saints and scriptures."

If you take one cent from somebody else without doing something good to him or without exchanging something, then you are debtor, and you have to pay him with interest and compound interest. That is the law of karma.

Life Begins From Cleanliness – Part 1
Author: Saravana Kumar PaulrajMar 25
Today I was listening to lecture titled "Life begins from Cleanliness", given by our spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on 2008-12-10 in Shree Shree Radha-NeelMadhav dham, Rajkot and shall attempt to transcribe the same in this mail. Maharaj was explaining the following verse from shastras
sukhasya duhkhasya na kopi daataa / paro dadaati iti kubuddhir eshaa
