In the Sixth canto of Srimad Bhagavatam, we find that King Citraketu offers fascinating prayers to the Supreme Personality Of Godhead and the Lord being very much pleased with the king replies in SB 6.16.51 the following very powerful verse :
aham vai sarva-bhutaani / bhutaatma bhuta bhaavanah
shabda-brahma param brahma / mamobhe shaashvati tanu
"All living entities, moving and nonmoving, are My expansions and are separate from Me. I am the Supersoul of all living beings, who exist because I manifest them. I am the form of the transcendental vibrations like omkaaraa and Hare Krishna Hare Rama, and I am the Supreme Absolute Truth. These two forms of Mine—namely, the transcendental sound and the eternally blissful spiritual form of the Deity, are My eternal forms; they are not material."
The Lord very clearly states that shabda brahma or the transcendeantal sound vibration is His eternal form. Our beloved Guru Maharaj states that the fact that Krishna is personified by sound, fixes us in the sound vibration. This knowledge ensures that we nicely chant our prescribed rounds. We hear so many sound vibrations and we are not satisfied with all the material sound vibrations. But the transcendental sound vibration can go on and we are not disturbed. Maharaj emphasises that material sound vibrations always create disturbance and spiritual sound vibrations are meant to create peace. This is because this sound vibration helps us to revive our dormant consciousness. As living spiritual souls we are all originally Krishna conscious entities, but due to our association with matter from time immemorial, our consciousness is now polluted and with this polluted consciousness we are trying to exploit the resources of the material nature but we are only more and more getting entangled in complexities. We can realize by our own experience that only simple living helps us in all the ways. The more the material possessions we have, the more the people harm us. Excessive material possession will always create disturbance in the limited time we have in our body. The transcendental sound vibration of the Hare Krishna Maha mantra clears all the misgivings in our heart.
The following incident makes us understand that there is no difference between the holy name of the Lord and the Lord Himself and also the necessity of precise presentation of the philosophy of Krishna Consciousness. Once one of the sannyasi disciples was giving a lecture in Prabhupada’s presence and he was explaining the absolute nature of the holy name. ‘Krishna is in His name’, the disciple said. Then Prabhupada interrupted him.’Oh, He is in His name? where in His name is He ?’ His disciple fell silent. ‘Krishna is not in His name’, Prabhupada explained, ‘Krishna is His name.’
